INNOVATIVE IDEAS ON PRADHAN MANTRI JAN DHAN YOJANA CROWDSOURCED THROUGH MYGOV

Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is National Mission for Financial Inclusion to ensure access to financial services, namely, Banking/ Savings & Deposit Accounts, Remittance, Credit, Insurance, Pension in an affordable manner.The Yojana gets its name and identity from the citizens, who participated in the MyGov platform’s competition. The success of the scheme so far is a result of citizens’ sustained engagement and willingness to be a part of the change.

MyGov continues to count on citizens’ actionable ideas and suggestions for covering all households under the scheme till 26th January 2015.

We share and recount some of the noteworthy suggestions received to the Open Forum:

JAYKISHAN PARIKH: "During SSC or HSC, a bank account should be created for every child by the education board. This account would be active once the child completes 18 years. For all the welfare amounts, such as money given to girl child by states, scholarship, etc would be transferred to this account"

ARUN SINGH: "PMJY is not only a scheme; it has the ability to do something different in Indian economic empowerment history for better India. Some thought has been shared at our end to improve this scheme. Please find the details in the attachment. Regards, Arun Singh from Varanasi, the oldest living holy city"

SHARMELA SONDHI: "Use the electoral rolls and Voters Lists of the Election Commission of India to monitor and check that all households are covered under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana by 26th January 2015, counter-check with Voter ID Cards"

PRIYA SHARMA: "Another means is to use BPL lists with each state to identify potential households with no bank accounts for opening the accounts. Also existing healthcare schemes such as RSBY can provide such lists of BPL population and such groups can be identified as the targeted population for the scheme. Below attached file contains more suggestions to cover all the households under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana"

DURGESH KUMAR SAHU: "सरकार को कमीशन योजना की शुरुआत करनी चाहिए, जो भी व्यक्ति किसी अन्य का खाता खुलवाने में मदद करता है उसे कमीशन दी जाए।"

ONKAR NATH AGARWAL: "If there is no bank nearby then there should be an extension counter beside the Post office counter, and the post master or even bank manager can be given the targets with the support of Village Development officers"

ARPIT AGARWAL: "To make sure every family has a bank account the MP, MLA & others looking for election tickets should be made responsible for opening at least 1000 family account in their constituency before they get their nomination filed. Election commission should be given extra responsibility in their free period to make a cross check as they have the list of every citizen. According to this if applied in last center election - 82,05,000 families could have account in bank and many more if applied to all the state elections"

ABHISHEK AGRAWAL: "Please set up account opening drives at local Railway Stations and bus stops in each tehsil/district, as these areas are most accessible"

S.K MOINUDDIN: "Motivate household members to open their bank account under the PMJDY by distributing subsidized and lucky coupons for Diesel, Petrol and PDS ration commodities which can be redeemed against the account number and it's entry can be added in the passbook to avoid duplication".
