About Veer Gatha Project
Project Veer Gatha, instituted under the Gallantry Awards Portal (GAP) in 2021, was envisioned to disseminate the stories of valor and sacrifice of India’s Gallantry Awardees among students, fostering patriotism and instilling the values of civic responsibility. Over the years, the project has grown into a national movement, giving school students across India a platform to creatively express their admiration for these brave heroes through poems, essays, paintings, drawings, multimedia presentations, and other formats.
With resounding success in its first four editions — 8 lakh participants in 2021-22, 19.5 lakh in 2022-23, 1.37 crore in 2023-24, and 1.76 crore in 2024-25 — Project Veer Gatha has been rightly hailed by the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri and the Hon’ble Minister of Education as “heralding a revolution amongst the students of India.”
Building on this momentum, the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is pleased to announce the launch of Project Veer Gatha 5.0 (2025-26 session). This edition carries forward the legacy of honoring bravery while also introducing new dimensions:
Inspired by the Hon’ble Minister of Education’s address during the Veer Gatha 4.0 Felicitation Ceremony, Veer Gatha 5.0 will include stories of great pre-independence warriors such as Prithvi Raj Chauhan, King Kharvela of Kalinga, and dynasties like the Magadhas and Cholas.
This edition will integrate technological elements such as videography, reporting, and anchoring, focusing on “Samarik Parampara” — India’s rich military traditions, strategies, wars, and struggles of warriors, soldiers, rulers, and monarchs.
Schools across all States and Union Territories are encouraged to establish a dedicated “Veer Gatha Corner” to showcase students’ talent and inspire participation in future editions.
Aligned with the Republic Day Celebrations, Veer Gatha 5.0 will once again recognize the finest student projects at the national level, celebrating the creativity, courage, and spirit of young India.
