Give suggestions on Imposition of ban on use of Plastic Carry Bags/Cups/Plates and allied items in Chandigarh

Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene ...
Unless people have a cheap alternative, they will continue to use plastic as it serves their need. Instead of forcing, provide alternatives and education so that people will gradually migrate from plastic resulting in plastic-free city. Promote companies providing alternatives and give them subsidies so that the alternative may be produced at a cheaper rate closer to plastic. Encourage Small industries to employ poor people and make cloth and paper bags, hard paper cups, plates etc.
Not only in Chandigarh but I demand to Impose strict ban on use of Plastic Carry Bags/Cups/Plates and allied items across the country. In this regard harbinger step of Uttar Pradesh is quite commendable. To solve this issue Promote Bio-Degradable plastic in place of Polymer Plastic.
the best way to reduce the use of plastic is give alternative of same products. ie. pramote Non woven carry bag made of polypropylene which is eco friendly and almost same in cost.
Usage of plastics can be reduced if we control our day to day activities.
Eg- 1) Reducing the usage of plastic plates, cups etc. in parties and any functions.
2) If you are using a ball point pen change its re-fillers instead of changing the pen wholly .
This will reduce plastic as well as money..
First step is to ban the production of plastic bag production. I mean cut the roots of the problem.
Then what?
What's the alternative?
Look for the production of the biodegradable plastics...
Which has wide area of applications.
Durable paper bags is another option for it....
For liquid commodities we can produce aluminium foil paper bags..
Value addition to plastic waste is the simplest way to tackle the problem. Banning of plastic carry bag may be taken as the next step. Like waste news papers, citizens may be given an option to sell the plastic waste and the municipal corporation should by it at a reasonable price to be determined through a feasibility study comparing the cost of handling plastic waste vis-a-vis the value to be added on plastic (and similar other waste) waste. You may involve the scavengers / NGOs etc. in it.
ban on use of plastics bags and packaging materials must be strictly imposed and violators to be dealt with heavy penalties.
Ban on use of polythene should be enforced with true sprite. It should be complete ban.
