Waste management is an important requirement for ecologically sustainable development. Efficient sorting of waste is a major issue in today’s society. The main goals of this ...
On Sunday holiday I gone outside i
Stop on one of food stall I order bhel after eating bhel I could not see dustbin where 2 drop wastage. At last i drop on road.Without dustbin
Swach bharat could not be succesful.
Its good to launched Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan. But it can't be achived until unless the govt will set much of dustbin in all the cities. Dustbin should be set in the cities very 200 mtr.
we have to separate our city storm water collection system from drainage system beside we have to built storage ponds with disinfection system.Normal house hold water harvesting tanks are ineffective due to size of storage tank and low permeability of soil.
if a mass programme is started to segregate the wastes at home only, the govt can encourage the public to do so providing the people to do this with benefits then a lot of pilling up of wastes can be reduced
twice in recent times the deonar dump yard in Mumbai caught fire. Why is it not possible to force all municipal corporations to segregate their waste into combustible and non combustible wastes and burn all the wastes in power plants. The power generated will satisfy the needs of the Municipal corporations. The power plant should pay ₹1/kwh to the municipality or coal equivalent price and power to be sold to the municipality at say ₹3/kwh. The central govt can give additional ₹1/kwh to the corp.
If the Govt. provides for small outlets to collect waste plastic at a price, this plastic will not spill on the roads. Moreover it will generate revenue, while keeping in mind the environment. Our society dumps all plastic material in the dust bins through the sweeper. This sweeper, at his convenience, disposes off this plastic and earns additional income apart from his salary. Why not give him a chance to sell it at Govt. authorized centers so that the Govt. earns instead of scrap dealers?
waste collection is very poor, though improved - it is not adequate. also we have observed in countries like singapore and malaysia that waste segregation happens at the source - plastic, glass bottles, food items etc are seperate. also the waste collection bins needs a better design and more volume based on the locality and number of houses. The waste collection vehicles need to ply in the night and do not disturb the morning busy traffic.
We must develop a unique, long term policy for the issues like waste management and it shall be applied across the country.
Such a policy shall include i) Minimisation of waste generation ii) Disposal of Industrial wastes iii) Segregation of waste at the source iv) Treatment of the bio-degradable and recycling of the other wastes and v) Prevention and protection of the natural environmental factors (Soil, Water, air) from getting contaminated by the waste disposal.
my opinion is we want develop vegetable Waste management system & plastic waste management system & separate Team for this two waste management system , this team make money from this waste . eg..vegetable waste can to make vegetable compost & bio gas. second one is plastic waste,it is recycle for any another plastic products. i have another suggestion , this two management system government must give to private sector because they will manage very well due to thy can make more money .
