One of the pillars of Digital India is to provide pan-India internet access through broadband highways. In sync to this, BharatNet is being successfully executed to provide optical fiber connection to 2,50,000 Gram Panchayats by 2019. Some experts have suggested that India can leverage its current cable infrastructure to provide last mile internet access via cable lines and ensure internet for all.

In this regard, MyGov is inviting citizens of India to give suggestions on policy and technology infrastructure that can lead to this access revolution, fulfilling the below-mentioned objectives
1) What are the possibilities from policy and technology perspective to maximize the usage of our cable network?
2) What are the potential challenges that could emerge in this process?
3) On comparing opportunities to challenges, does this emerge as a viable option?

If we want more speed, then use Optical fibers. But here cost increases. So to reduce the cost, share the Internet with private and government bodies. Potential challenges will be its implementation of infrastructure, then availing the money back from the users. This option will be viable as the communication will be faster, so overall the economy will improve and increase the revenue. This option will help to fulfill the dream of Digital India.

optical fiber is one of the fastest networking system. Developed countries were using it very much for its efficiency. Modern fiber cable has thousands fiber in a single cable so you lease or sell the unused fibers to other providers like Airtel, Reliance etc where they are lagging in installing fiber cable in most of the place as of now. Quality of the cable should be on the top side.....

The best and most cost effective way would be to use WiMAX technology in both cities and rural areas to provile high-speed internet. Wimax tower only neeeds maintanence similar to that of mobile tower.
802.16d is able to provide data rates of up to 75 Mbps and Cell radii are typically up to 75 km.
large procurement of WiMAX modem will decrease it's cost drastically like in LED Scheme and help local companies and data provided can also be cheap but fast bringing market disruption. #MyGov #BBNL

1) Technology for providing broadband over cable already exists. It is called Ethernet Over Cable. EOC
2) Implement the digitization of set-top-box policy with a hard deadline.
3) Implementation of technical solution will become easy and it will open up large opportunity for server cable operators.
4) A EOC client will be installed at home, which will be able to give cable TV channels on TV and also on mobile devices over WIFI
5) Cost of laying cable will also get eliminated.

1. Give this project task to engineering and management students from IIT's, engineering colleges, management schools in different states. Many professors & engineers will be willing to work on this project for benefit of India.
2. Invite foreign companies to invest in broadband infrastructure in India. Provide them free land, 1 day approval to start project, 1-2 years tax free business opportunity in India. In return India gets broadband infrastructure, jobs, social & economical development
