Kohima Smart City for a Liveable Future

Start Date :
Oct 15, 2015
Last Date :
Nov 16, 2015
00:00 AM IST (GMT +5.30 Hrs)
To have a liveable Smart City Plan for Kohima, every Stakeholder and Citizen of Kohima is now invited to contribute valuable ideas towards the building of Kohima Smart City. Our ...
*Improve the services sector which is virtually non-existent in Nagaland, viz., where else but here do you go to a courier agency to pick up your parcel when home-delivery is opted for? Where tourism is concerned, hospitality is our forte but it is not enough to sustain the tourism ecosystem. Services catering to the needs of the tourists is the need of the hour. For eg., introduction of innovative transportation systems.
*I believe smart citizens make a smart city. Government should empower a democratically elected municipal body to issue strict guidelines for all citizens to follow and educate the citizens for compliance of the same.
*Improved police services for security of all sans movement of armed personnel within the city limits(inside ATMs, bakeries, shops etc). This is not a war-zone!
13. The Inner Line Permit (ILP) should be revised and for Skilled workers or Professionals ILP ranging from 1 year to 3 years should be issued.
14. All Construction Workers should be registered under the Labour Department and grading should be done to assess skill
11. The same way Colony invest in garbage truck, they should invest in another Pickup Truck to transport Organic Vegetables Door to Door and generate revenue for the Colony instead of selling Lottery tickets and Food Packs
12. Schools within the City should rely solely on school buses for kids. Private Vehicles should not be allowed to park near the school for pickup and dropping.
8. Due to lack of Public Space, Every Private School within the City should at least have a Kids Park accessible to the Public.
9. To decongest the City, Commercial Buildings mainly Hospitals and Big Departmental Stores should have Parking Provision.
10. WASTE MANAGEMENT - KMC should only collect Segregated Waste free of cost. Unsegregated wasted should be Charged per Kilo to the defaulter.
4. Lease out City Cleaning jobs to private parties and let KCCI collect the payment and pay the parties.
5. It is ILLEGAL to have the city drain flowing into the rivers below. Please adopt a DEWATS system and clean the City Sewers before it is released downstream.
6. All Kohima Drain should have two layer, A lower Chamber for the Sewer and an upper Storm Water Drain.
7. For Households with Septic Tank drainage issues should subscribe to ENBIOLET, the latest technology in Septic Tank free loo.
1. Create Efficient Public Transport System. There should be Bus parking provision on the perimeter of the City and Buses should continuosly ply without stopping at busstops for more than 5 minutes. This will encourage people to use the city bus.
2. Give parking Pass of 1 pass per family owning vehicles. Any other entry to the City should be charged during peak hours.
3. Create 3 Farmers Market - one towards southern Angami Area, One Towards Dimapur and One Towards Wokha/MKG.
Urgent need of a proper building by-law and building code of standards.
Refine and develop the planning authorities.
Breathing spaces inside the city.
People should be able to walk in the city.
Waste management, regular water supply, drainage, sanitation, electricity, phone connectivity, traffic regulation, better public transport, good roads, parking space and safe buildings are top concerns.
Town beautification, parks for people and pedestrian walk ways, tree plantation, regulated market areas, lighting up of streets, basic security, litter control, garbage collection, pay n use toilets, and no honking zones will have to follow.
~ do something about the pond at boc which is only an eyesore and a breeding ground for pathogens
~ build parks for recreational purposes and i don't mean children parks
~ proper waste management and disposal and make defaulters pay fines, even for mild littering
~ take cue from Mohenjodaro for construction of proper drainages and town planning
