This theme seeks to understand the complexities around having a robust framework for technology enabled education. Do we have the human and infrastructural facilities that can fully exploit the opportunities of TEL. To what extent do our institutions leverage the potential of ICT for improving access and quality of general and technical education and also faculty development.

Technology is a leveler and also a great task master. All assessments should be done with technology, paperless office or operational efficiency or productivity of faculty and institutions should be driven with technology. Technology is a great tool for bringing magic or coolness factor into learning, something that is largely missing with higher ed. We as children were enthusiastic to learn, but as we grow learning becomes an uninteresting chore. Technology could change that!

We do have some infra, the real question is are we as institutions, faculties really ready to use that existing infra to the fullest. Technology is merely a tool, do we have separate discussion threads here for book enabled learning? If not, I don't see why this has to be a separate thread. What is really missing is TEL being practiced for faculty development. Let teachers first believe that they can learn through technology. The rest will automatically follow!

The usage of technology for simulations, evaluation and calculation can be useful in improving quality of education. By broad casts - as IGNOU do - will provide distributed learning structure. We may provide a super computer to link with the IITs or higher institutions to process and provide large amount of data, simulate results etc. Though we have plenty of human resource for lower level of technology, we still face personnel and infra structure shortage at higher level.

Only single apex education controlling authority like UGC should do:

(1) Permanent Exam Centers (EC), which are owned & operated directly by UGC, @ 1 EC initially in each Region, afterwards in each District, afterwards in each Tehsil.

(2) Any University / Board may offer On-Demand On-Line Examinations at any EC for any chosen suitable subject

(3) Student from any University or Board may appear for On-Demand On-Line Examination for one or more chosen subject from above at any EC

Technology has enormous potential- not as an add-on but as a core pedagogical innovation that transforms how children learn. It requires a combination of infrastructure, affordable devices, teachers who can guide children, and early training for children to become self learners. Once these four factors are in place, the quality and depth of learning can be exponentially improved. Our experience with the Pratham Virtual Open Schools (http://www.openschoolsonline.org/) has good lessons for scale.

emhasis should be on practical...not on theory
I ve done engg. from uptu, the system was such thattheory wheighs 70 marks and practical weighs 30 marks. interesting thing is that practical is conducted in your own college(self centre) and theory exam in other college. no wonder, almost student secure 29,30 in practical and still have no knowledge.my suggestion is that practical should weighs more than theory and should be conducted in other college.

we can provide the real environment for the students so they can do the same job for his career. There is loopfall for the industry training to get the actual environment to the students and thenafter no students can go for good career opportunity and they are going to struggule for their life.

For technology enabled learning students have to get the environment for real time system.

Funds for the lab development programme should be increased. A Online database of ongoing researches in various technology around the world should be made. Sufficient basics of the technology should be made available. One such database or forum should be faciliated by the govt. Also industry personnel should be made involved in this online forum for fruitful interactions between the student teacher and industry personnels.Virtual labs should be promoted, Funding of innovative projects

Post 2:
Below post is my earlier post from other group discussion.

I think there is tremendous unexplored scope for TEL (technology enabled learning).

If following concept can be followed, all the Schools/Colleges would have access to best study material at least. If not all students, all faculties can at least use it for their own study and teach it to the pupils.
