Prevention and control of vector borne diseases

Start Date :
Feb 19, 2015
Last Date :
Mar 19, 2015
00:00 AM IST (GMT +5.30 Hrs)
Many vector-borne diseases are transmitted by arthopods (mosquitoes, ticks, mites etc) and have prevalent in India namely malaria, dengue, chikungunya, filariasis and kala azar and ...
Flu Virus (Swine Flu)
H1N1 flu is also known as swine flu. It's called swine flu because in the past, the people who caught it had direct contact with pigs. That changed several years ago, when a new virus emerged that spread among people who hadn't been near pigs.In 2009,H1N1 was spreading fast around the world,so the World Health Organization called it a pandemic.Since then, people have continued to get sick from swine flu,but not as many.
All citizen need to be get Flu Vaccine every year to prevent flu epidemic; here in USA every physician's Office; private and government hospital offers flu vaccines. Also the citizens should be self conscious about cleanliness and hygiene every where.
In metropolitan cities the garbage is thrown by rich who live in flats have no place to keep it within their living area. The garbage is carried and dumped near slums or surrounding villages. The people who are poor really suffer lot from this.Even the corporates should be involved in Swach Bharat.Garbage can be minimized by avoiding parcels of hotels filled in plastic especially in metropolitan cities like Bengaluru. As plastics non biodegradable they contain water during monsoon&become source of
Implementing may be easy but in long run the easy ideas should not cause new, unknown effects on humans. Especially better to limit using artificial chemicals, electric devices. The study and knowledge on preventive medicine, vector borne diseases is still lagging especially nowadays the research in science is limited India to statistical analysis and publishing it in western controlled agencies to attract more funds. The implementation of ideas is big challenge now.

It may look futuristic but have a lot of potential for our country
While preventing mosquitoes we should know that the preventive measures should not effect other insects which do pollination, control other pests etc.Once anything creates bad environment it effects everything within it,and the effect is of long time. The preventive measures should start from Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by involving school children,Govt employees, and NGOs.If we could produce bio-insecticide it fulfills Make in India vision.Monitoring-effected area, causes, preventivesteps should be digita
I strongly oppose using insecticides which cause bio magnification to control these diseases.DDT(dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane)which once was proven cure for spreading of malaria but soon we understood its more toxic to us than to mosquito which already got resistance against it. Its possible to use plant extracts to repel/kill mosquito and if India can produce such herbal insecticide its not only good for us, whole world will be in the consumer side to us.
Recently in Japan unexpectedly Dengue fever identified and we have to know that its very unlikely effecting island like Japan but the overseas traveling made it clear that we have to prevent disease coming from other counties by adopting health checkup on arrival. In case of the killer Malaria,Dengue,Filaria,Chikungnya these disease have cure in homeland Ayurvedic medicine system for sure, even I experienced it myself. Its better to use herbal insecticidetowhichvectors couldn'tstand during evolutio
1) Innovate the design of street lights to behave like 'Electronic Insect Killer'.
2) Citizens should celebrate a week prior to Monsoon as 'Calcium Powder Week' and everyone should put calcium powder around their houses.
3) There should be one Incineration plant in a radius of every 200 km.
4) Provide cough/cold resistant drugs alongwith salt to 'eradicate' cough/cold/normal fever. This will enhance productivity of every citizen.
As we know even vector born diseases also have pattern in appearance. Some seasons they effect more and the other time less. Pollution, temperature (other environmental conditions) healthiness of people, previously used pesticide or preventive measures etc... and many other things should be considered before implementing new plans. Already some parts of our country suffering from new and unidentified diseases like Handigodu Disease the government should take careful steps on this matter.
