Innovative ideas on circular economy in E-waste

Today, electronic waste poses a significant challenge for society. With the introduction of innovative features and up-gradation, people are changing their devices by discarding the old ones, thereby contributing to the generation of electronic waste significantly.

Replacing the linear systems with circular in electrical and electronic equipment intends to maximize value at each life-cycle stage by reusing, repairing, recovering remanufacturing, regenerating products and material.

Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) observes Swachhata Pakhwada 2022 from 1st February 2022 to 15th February 2022 promoting ‘E-waste se Raksha- Swachhata hi Suraksha’. Citizens are invited to share their innovative ideas on how circular economy practices can help in sustainable and efficient E-waste Management.

The best entries from the citizens will be identified by the Ministry and will be featured on the MyGov page.

The last date to receive suggestions is 15th February 2022.

In Recent years increase in e waste in our environment.due to this percentage of e waste in environmental is increased by day by day.if we buy new electronic devices then we generally throw a old devices.to overcome this problem need to create Recycling, Reuse and Reduce unit in many places in country, because of this people should able to submit their old electronic equipment to that shop,it reduces the amount of e waste from environment.

There have to be several means for the people to know how to augment the most useful way of recycling e-waste. The experts may come out with books preferably in vernacular language as well as English. Some NGOs may take up the work of disseminating necessary knowledge for the people discarding e-gadgets so that the supply side of recycling is streamlined. Some of them may also take up training of entrepreneurs in e-recycling. The ITI s should open a training branch on this subject. The media may come forward. The enthusiasts should form internet-forums for exchange of information. Some machines required for effective recycling are quite costly and may be sold on EMI basis, or the banks might finance them through District Industries Centers. This way, the resources will find the best use and the environment will also remain cleaner.

Now this technology time , we need to integrate this waste into technology. Our india's young generation now day very interested to doing startup, so government of India should fund that kind of startups and grow them and after in not only e-waste but entire thing which harmful for healthy environment will be reduced very much.
I think privatization is more connecting the people and influence so .. this is the possible way for any kind of wastes.
Thank you very much

Sustainable and eco-friendly waste-management needs an integrated approach. E-waste includes mobiles, printed circuit boards, CDs, mobiles, computers, monitors , TVs, and other electronic and electrical gadgets. E-waste is a rich source of precious metals such as silver, palladium, gold, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium which can be recovered and recycled. In a way it is waste to wealth. specific collection centres, pooling, sorting and segregation and and extraction of the precious metals in the specific copper and lead smelters installed at designated places is the best option to get rid of the e-waste and recover valuable metals. thereby you can save the environment from toxic gases, lead and other hazardous gases like PCBs, PAHs coming into our environemnt...................................................................

material and resource security especially to address Atma
Nirbhar Bharat (self-reliance) programme of the Government of India and to create a conducive
framework for stakeholders to support sustainable transition of the economic, environmental and social
paradigms wherein linear models of production and consumption are replaced with circular economy
processes and models. This action plan will support creation of a sustainable product policy initiative for
India where Indian industry is supported to embrace Circular Economy approaches focussing on material
acquisition, design &production, consumption, end-of-life management, recovery and re-utilisation of
secondary raw materials.

The e-waste management rules were released in 2011 - I did a lot of awareness (including attending sessions) for few years - after that it seems to have died down. I have given my e-waste for recycling every 2 years since then, but its a pain to find a recycler and to get the waste picked up from home. Also, they do not provide the certificate easily.

This must be fixed. Make it easy for public to give their e-waste.

The amount of e-waste to be generated in next few years has increased many folds due to work-from-home in past 2 years - not sure whether e-waste management capabilities have been enhanced in the same proportion.

Indore in number one clean city , but the people handle garbage in a bad condition and the stinking garbage vans ,open , moves across the city. We have one innovative design and idea to improve this situation . It can also help develop a facility to improvise garbage vans and bins.
