India has a rich legacy of practices and knowledge touching different spheres of life and a scientific heritage traversing various Science & Technology (S&T) domains. The traditional knowledge of India is available in various forms such as classical texts, manuscripts and/or as oral communication that has been passed on over thousands of years. This valuable knowledge is often part of our daily practices as well. Some of the traditional practices are livelihood means of the concerned knowledge holders. Our traditional practices exist in synergy between human needs and nature, often balancing resources and requirements in a local context. However, with time, India’s Traditional Knowledge Systems are eroding rapidly, and the nation has also been witnessing erosion in people’s faith towards our traditional knowledge. A grave concern is the mindless attitude of some to mimic non-Indian cultures and disdain for our traditions. It’s important to recognize that traditional heritage is an integral part of any country’s development and progression. This calls for necessary attention and action from the concerned stakeholders in the country to build further on our scientific inheritance. Only a well-informed and balanced society can drive the advancement of the country.

Under the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister and President, CSIR Society, Shri Narendra Modi, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is spearheading the efforts to collaborate with the relevant partners from across the country and implement the national initiative SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge) for communicating India’s traditional knowledge to the society. CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) is the nodal organization to implement this national initiative.

The prime mission of the initiative is to conserve scientifically validated traditional practices, and instil confidence in citizens regarding the scientific values of our traditional knowledge/practices.

We invite the suggestions of academicians, researchers, subject-matter experts, students, NGOs, and the public on how to instil confidence in society about our traditional knowledge and practices. This will help us in our mission to inculcate a scientific temper and instil confidence in citizens by stimulating the Science-Scientist-Society connect towards our traditional knowledge and practices.

AAP govt is winning elections in Delhi for free electricity and water which the poor and middle class with less money value a lot. In order to provide a bigger and better benefit scheme govt should waive off minimum bill (rental) on electricity all over India like Karnataka has. You get the bill for what your consume, not a minimum bill for some free units.
This can be a game changer for govt, in winning the next elections

Reservation in job and education is killing our system. Where in past 70 years countries progressed we kept holding to same policies even when they are outdated. Still it is difficult to remove this as there would be political consequences.
One way to start reducing it is to create a quota within quota. For a quota to SC(15%) ST(7.5%) OBC(27%) a sub-quota for brilliant SC/ST/OBC students should be 30% in each catagory.
To understand this.. if SC total quota is 15%, then 5% should be for SC-brilliant students and so on with other catagories.
This would not only help uplift this community but bring out the talent and bring this community at par with others.
and govt should promote this as huge benefit for backward community and minority

In states of south India people celebrate all festivals because they have holidays. All major hindu festivals like sankranti, holi, pongal etc are off days. Muslims & christans can take holidays on their festivals which are not state holidays except 25 dec and 1 day for Eid. Same for west bengal, during durga puja there are 5 holidays. In north specially in central govt. there are 7-8 holidays on muslim, sikh and christan festivals but hindu festivals like rakshbandhan, navratri is working. How can one celebrate & promote festivals. holidays should be given according to religion. India being a hindu nation should celebrate hindu festivals with holidays and other religoin festival should be working. whereas other religion people should get off days on their festivals.
all over the world for christmas there are 10-15 days holidays, but for us hindu diwali is just for 1 day, no holiday for bhai-duj, rakhi, holi, janamasthmi, navratri. There should be 3 holidays for diwali

On my visit to a govt. hospital I saw patients waiting in corridors and outside to assist patients who are admitted so in need to anything they can provide. Such waiting areas are in open where rains, heat of sun is very prevalent. Moreover, there is no arrangement of food & water and many times patient keep waiting for many hours. If in such places small kiosks of food (like amma canteen in tamilnadu) are built with economical food (for Rs.5/10) like idli, vada, upma, pongal.. one item each day it would be blessing for patients and their relative to have something to fill their stomach. This would bring a very good name for govt. specially in state delhi, where elections are coming. AIIMS is a good place to test this initiative from PM modi ji as Atal-Canteen where atal ji has spent his last hours.
This small kiosks should serve water and mini meals in various locations across hospital in front of each department.
Food should be prepared by akshay patra kitchen hygine

we have our hospitals working 6 days a week with 6th day i.e. Saturday being half day till 1pm. This is neither helpful for doctors nor patients since half of investigations are able to be completed that day and rest is postponed causing both time waste for doctor and patient. If this is made 2 full Saturdays and 2 off days for Saturday it would be good for both patients, medical staff, doctors and hospital admin to relax and give best service rest of days. This would be a great step by govt. in bringing quality of service to all.
