Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, in Karnataka State has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the “Smart City” Challenge Stage-2 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation was constituted in the year 1962 by combining two cities separated by a distance of 20 kilometers. This was a unique experiment in urban development history. The area of this Corporation is 202.3sq.kms, spread over 45 revenue villages. The population of the city as per the 1991 Census was 7 lakhs. The present population is nearly more than 9.43 lakhs. Under the Government of India Act of 1850, the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal council was established on August 15, 1855.

Let’s join together to make Hubballi-Dharwad as a Smart City.

In one of the news paper it was mentioned that Rs. 100 Cr. will be given every year for next 5 years for such activity. However the amount required for development minimum things for the twin cities is 3700 cr as mentioned earlier news article. So mere 100 cr. will be of no significance. I wish govt will definitely do the justice to this project.

1.Flyover at kittur Rani Chennamma circle.

2.parking problems.

3.Long pending Solar City programme.

4.Spitting in public places & on walls.

5.Mandatory of solar water heaters on old buildings also as 100 LPD system will reduce One Tonne of carbon dioxide emission p.a

6.Corporation Tax concession those who install solar water heaters.

7.use of LED lights to all street lights in twin cities with automatic Dusk to Dawn operation.

2.Upgradition of APMC to international standards.
3.Seed Bank in APMC, which is largest in ASIA
4.Renovation and Digitization of Central Food Corporation India
5.To prevent probable future water crisis as stated in the survey conducted by foriegn agenciency can be prevented by not allowing RAIN WATER from any kind of road i.e State Highway, National Highway etc must to sewage, instead it must be treated properly and utlized to recharge

8)Clean and sustainable Waste management: Implementing waste management units in waste dumping places and creating awareness in schools/collages, polluted areas and slum areas about waste management.
9)Citizen’s participation: In SMART CITY and Clean Environment programmes.
The above suggestions are effectively implemented then we lives decent quality of life and also clean and sustainable environment.

4)Good Transportation: Create roads to minimise energy and pollution free environment, launching new govt busses in city, improve the traffic management.
5)Basic Infrastructure: Building govt offices for Administration and Houses for slum area peoples for leading their decent quality of life.
6)Good e-Governance: Implementing e-Governance in all govt Administration.
7)Water and Electricity supply 24×7: These are the basic needs of our day today life.

4)cleanliness across the city

1. Roads have to be developed first.
2. WiFi across the city.
3. It is difficult to even to pay our House tax when we visit HDMC offices. SO better staff and systems is required.
4. Even more better connectivity to Major cities through Roads, trains and airways.
