Mangalore has the potential to become one of the largest visited tourist hub of India. Mangalore has huge water bodies ( seas, rivers, streams), forest areas, mountain ranges, temples, culture. Manglorean cusine is loved by people across the country. Majority of the population can understand and speak the national language. It is already an educational and medical hub. Considering all the above mentioned Mangalore can be developed as tourism hub.

As Mangalore is educational hub of Karnataka. Some improvements need to be brought in Mangalore University and Metrolines should be started in order to help students travelling from nearby cities. Mangalore is a exceptionally well planned city compared to other cities of Karnataka. Skyscaper are part of globalization ,govt should work on on tourism and major need of concentration is towards Airport and New Mangalore Port.

My views for Mangalore as a smart city -
Development of roads with clearly marked pavements.
Provide 24x7 water supply & electricity.
Seamless wifi connectivity. .
Do not give licences for high rise buildings. Restrict it to G + 3
Make water harvesting compulsory.
Effective solid waste management.
Upgrade Kadri park to International standards. The only proper lung space of Mangalore.
Provide separate lanes for cyclists.
Provide cctv cameras in all public places.

A smart City is not at all about Skyscrapers and state of the art infrastructure, A city can be called a Smart City if people in it become smart.Being a mangalorean i suggest that people must be educated about road ethics and lane discipline. We must focus on striving towards a greener cleaner city.Greener mass transportation systems should be encouraged.Vehicles emitting high emissions should be banned.Eventhough mangalore has one of the best garbage management, garbage cans should be installed.
