Ministry of Civil Aviation
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is responsible for the formulation of national policies and programmes for the development and regulation of the civil aviation sector in the country. It oversees matters relating to air transport services, airport infrastructure, air safety, and aviation security.
The Ministry exercises administrative control over attached and autonomous organizations such as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), and the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udan Academy (IGRUA). It also coordinates with public sector undertakings including the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Pawan Hans.
India’s civil aviation industry has witnessed significant growth in recent years and has emerged as one of the fastest-growing aviation markets globally. The country is currently among the largest domestic civil aviation markets in the world.
