Aspiring for higher professions the Young Men with educational standards and Intellect arenot coming to teaching profession in all subjects.Elementary and Secondary Education is in avery bad shape because those who teach there themselves have no standards and they too come to the profession as Lat Option. so no interest in their Job.This situation should be changed.Government should see that talented people become teachers at Elementary and High School Levels First.
In Pre -Independence Days Indians were given lower rung positions in Government Circles. If we take Revenue Indians used to Retire maximum as Thasildars. If it was Police Department maximu Indians used to go was only Circle Inspector. Same in the Cas e with other departments. That was why many bright people preferred teaching job or Lawyer Profession. But after Independence Indians are occupying higher positions in all departments.going to top positions of power.

Selection, training at all levels of teaching must be radically changed- we may adopt with due changes the best process in the world. Aptitude and integrity are vital for a teacher. We are not serious today in selection and thus have a very poor quality teachers at most places. I am a scientist and teacher.
TEACHING ability is must for managers, supervisors as well. As such the art of teaching should be inculcated in the learning process itself. PSYCHOLOGISTS help can be taken in all levels of education - primary, higher, technical and professional . In the name of counseling, what we are doing at present, during admission process, just verify the credentials and allot a seat based on students choice. The word counseling is made a mockery. Attitude testing is a dream in out country.
the best teachers are to be identified by the best students, best peers and best superiors. the identification process should be continuous. Multifaceted criteria should be followed. the interchange between academicians and industrial employees will do a lot and should be encouraged. the iteration process will retain the best suitable for both. unless one is tested for 3 years, one cannot be judged as the best in any field, TEACHING or INDUSTRY.
According to the UGC and central government rule, the minimum qualification criteria is 55% in post-graduation for NET and SLET or state level examination. But is this the right policy for selecting a faculty? India is democratic country and students should have the right to evaluate their teachers. Good score in the examination can not imply that they can teach well. We can see many previous faculty in university level who do not have these scoring cards but they were prodigy.
Teachers are the cornerstone but after getting government job ,they are becoming lazy
They are not doing there job properly
So you please start monitoring and motivation of teachers also
By paying high salaries as competetive with private institution and picking them from the top most institution can serve the cause.
