Established in 1875, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is completing 150 years of service to the nation on 15th January 2025. IMD is among the earliest government departments created specifically for systematic observation, regular reporting and scientific forecasting of weather phenomenon in the Indian subcontinent. In a way, the evolution of meteorology as a stream of modern physical science owes a lot to the contributions made by scientists and technologists who were associated with IMD during its glorious one hundred and fifty years of journey.

To commemorate our remarkable 150-year journey of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, we proudly announce IMD’s Calendar Designing Contest in collaboration with MyGov. It is a creative platform for individuals to showcase their artistic talents while promoting meteorology and climate science awareness. Participants are invited to design visually striking and informative calendar pages that reflect the India Meteorological Department's role in weather forecasting, disaster management, and climate monitoring. This contest aims to blend creativity with education, encouraging participants to craft designs that captivate and inspire a deeper appreciation for IMD's contributions to society. Winning designs will serve as a year-long reminder of the importance of meteorology in our daily lives.
