While each smart city will have distinctive features specific to its location, demography, culture and other such factors, there maybe smart solutions to problems which are common to all cities. This contest seeks to identify such smart and innovative solutions to common problems.
All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
Questions
1. Out of the following 21 smart solutions, select 3 solutions that should be applied to all Indian cities and provide a brief write-up (max. 50 words) to explain why.
2. Describe a ‘smart’ idea that you have seen in some other city(anywhere in the world) that you would like to see replicated in your own city. ‘Smart idea’ means doing more with less.
3. Describe 3 ways that Indian cities can reduce the gap between rich and poor.
4. List out 5 essential facts about your local municipal corporation that should be available to all citizens.
Entry Deadline
• Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015.
Evaluation
The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:
• Do-ability (50%)
• Innovation (50%)
Award
Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts:
Rs. 40,000 - First Prize
Rs. 25,000 - Second Prize

The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot

• All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
• The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only.
• The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less.

2. Centralised Complaint Management System: As an Indian citizen it will be extremely beneficial if I know which contact number to call as soon as I am in some kind of trouble. It can be related to a range of complaints related to road, water, robbery, harassment, medical services, bribe complaints etc.

4 e.) Electricity: Local Municipal Corporation should ensure availability of cheap round the clock electricity. Renewable sources of energy should be explored as a means to reduce the burden on economy

4 c.) Health: Municipal Corporation should ensure quality health services to all. Health centres should be equipped with capability to provide basic health facilities to all alike regardless of their economic background.
4 d.) Housing: Quality housing to all the citizens. Clean water supply and hygienic surrounding should be the responsibility of local Municipal Corporation.

3. Smart Parking – Rapid urbanization has lead to huge number for four-wheelers in cities. Most markets in India are clogged because people don't find sufficient place to park their vehicle which causes inconvenience for everyone. So smart parking mixed with better road planning will solve traffic problems too.

2. Water Quality Monitoring - Urban population has swelled exponentially. Ground water/Treated water are two main sources of water in households because potential of rain water harvesting is extremely underutilized in cities. So Quality of water supplied in cities should be as per global standards to protect our future generations.

1.Citizen Engagement:It is sign of good governance.Engaging citizen & considering their views, leads to better acceptance
2.Waste water to be treated:It is not an option but a prerequisite.To supply clean water to the population, you need clean water.
3.Integrated Multimodal Transport:It facilitates mobility that inherently facilitates productivity and economic growth. Results in more efficient use of all modes of transport. Facilitates safety by providing last mile connectivity

I have Selected these three solution :16 , 17 and 18 for all smart cities to manage the urban mobility in a smart way just like work class cities London UK using (Integrated traffic management, smart parking and integrated multi-mode transport), Oyster London UK card, London tube and meter based parking.

1. Public information, Grievance redressal. Public information, Grievance redressal - Administrative services faces jurisdiction issues involving corporator, IAS officer, MLAs & MPs, so citizen’s find it difficult to figure out who should be approached for a specific problem. An efficient grievance redressal system supported by a public information campaign can solve civic problems quickly.

1.Three solutions to be applied to all Indian Cities must be i) Public information and grievance redressal for SMART Governance, ii) Waste to energy & fuel as Smart Solution for Waste management and Energy problem, and iii) Integrated multimodal transport based on SMART Planning
