Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) is a non-profit company setup by Government of India, State governments and financial institutions to provide IT infrastructure and services to the Central and State governments, tax payers and other stakeholders for implementation of proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST).
GST would be a broad-based, comprehensive, single indirect tax which will be levied concurrently on goods and services across India. It will replace Value added Tax (VAT), Excise Duty, Service Tax, Central Sales Tax, Additional Customs Duty, Special Additional Duty of Customsand several other indirect taxes. Introduction of GSTin India is perceived to be the most ambitious initiative in the arena of indirect tax reform. It would change the Indian tax structure and pave the way for modernization of tax administration. It will simplify the indirect tax regime, making the whole country a single market.
Objectives of GSTN
The GSTN is mandatedto provide following broad services in GST regime:
1. Provide common online Registration, Return filling and e-Payment servicesforapproximately 60 lakh tax payers;
2. Build efficient, convenient and user-friendly online interface for the tax payers;
3. Ensure integration of the Common GST Portal with existing tax administration systems of Central/ State Governments and other stake holders;
4. Carry out research, study and implement best practices and provide training to the stakeholders
Entries are invited for the contest of designing a logo and defining a tagline for GSTN.
The winning entry will be awarded as under:
a. Logo- Rs. 50,000/-
b. Tag Line- Rs. 50,000/-

The Indian currency symbol along with the coloured geometric assemblage of circles and rectangles form the core of the design and has a dual meaning. It
symbolises money/tax associated with different goods and services. It also represents the taxation network and culmination of different tiers of the taxation system as represented by varied colours of the geometric assemblage
The meaning of the Logo is replacing all the existing tax collection departments and bringing into one network.
