The term pro bono which is short for “pro bono publico”, a Latin term that means “for the public good”. In practice, the term is used quite specifically in context of the legal profession- referring to the practice of giving legal assistance to those unable to represent them for want of money. In India, ‘Pro Bono Legal Service’ as a concept remains an ad hoc, individualized practice lacking an institutional structure.
In order to establish a framework for dispensation of pro bono legal services, the Department of Justice (DoJ), in collaboration with UNDP, launched, in April 2017, a web based initiative (available at doj.gov.in) on consolidating volunteers from the legal fraternity to provide pro bono legal services to those who dearly need legal aid and counsel, but are unable to afford it. Through this portal, litigants from marginalised communities (including members of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, women, children, senior citizens, persons with low income and persons with disabilities) can also apply for legal aid and advice from the pro bono lawyers.
The Department of Justice (DoJ) invites the users to create a Logo for the Pro Bono Legal Services initiative. The logo should capture the essence of the initiative and help establish its own identity.
Last date of submission of entries is 28th September, 2017, 5:00PM

The designed logo simply shows the to hands are offering the legal services that ‘DoJ’ is providing to the people who dearly need it.
About the colour, the base colour is black and white depicts the legal service and the Indian tricolour talks about the National DoJ.
My vision: pro bono legal services
Two shaking hands represent a hand of advocate / legal service provider which is shown as a hand with a sleeve of coat and the other hand is shown with a little darker color shade which symbolizes the marginalized communities. The lawyers band (neckwear) is placed behind to show the services of lawyer. The beam balance shows justice.
Earth at back depicts web, weighing machine for justice where people are more important than money.
Legal advice for every needy Indian.
Logo based on right of justice, commitment and
mass based social movement.
In this logo there are three hands, middle hand represents the who dearly need legal aid and counsel, but are unable to afford it, and upper and lower hand are of “pro bono” lawyers. Which is represent the initiative and help. The hands are in a pair of scales which describes the legal help.
“Pro Bono Legal Services”, is a service provided by government in the interest of public. The Human figure silhouette with the tie stands for an advocate and the books in the background shows a bookshelf containing law books, referring which the legal advice and other services are provided to the public. (1st file is logo in English and the 2nd file is logo in Hindi as mentioned the T&C)
