In pursuance of the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, National Cadet Corps (NCC) initiated a nationwide flagship campaign. “Puneet Sagar Abhiyan” to
(a) Clean up Sea Shores/ Beaches, Riverfronts & Lakes including removal of plastic waste.
(b) Recycling of collected waste with the help of local municipal bodies, technical institutes, NGOs, recyclers etc.
(c) Spread awareness for the need of clean and pristine Beaches/ Water Bodies.
(d) Educate the population regarding hazards of plastic pollution.
In the inaugural month of Dec 2021, approximately 3.9 Lakh NCC cadets from 127 NCC units from Coastal States collected almost 19 tons of plastic waste in December. The Abhiyan gained mass popularity resulting in the Prime Minister praising the campaign not only in his Mann Ki Baat on 26 Dec 2021 but also re-emphasizing the same in his talk during the NCC PM Rally on 28 Jan 2022.
Considering the mass popularity and encouraging results, the Campaign was than expanded as year long activity pan India to cover In Land Water bodies – River fronts, Lakes, Ponds on National/ International days of significance.
Almost 4 Lac Cadets have participated this year so far collecting over 35 tons of plastic waste and have handed over 23 tons for recycling. Along the Way NCC’s Puneet Sagar Abhiyan have shaken hands with various prestigious organizations i.e. Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Army Welfare Education Society, Sainik Schools, National Highway Authority of India, Border Road Organisation, Ministry of Environment, Forest &Climate Change, Department of Science& Technology and United Nations Environment Program for synergisation of activities, spreading awareness and coordination for recycling of plastic waste.
Requirements
Puneet Sagar Abhiyan Logo to Reflect:
1) Action on Water Bodies Pan India with immense participation of youth
2) Spearheading by NCC
3) Recycling rather than relocating.
4) Massive Nationwide movement.
5) Spreading of Education on Evils of Plastic
6) Each entry should submit the detailed logic and explanation of rational and creative thoughts (not more than 100 words) on designed logo in a soft copy.
7) The logo design may include artistic expressions of colour combination/arrangements in the NCC Flag.
