Kakinada city is the headquarters of East Godavari District.It is one of the fastest developing cities in Andhra Pradesh with a population of 3,25,985 (as per 2011 census). It is the 4th largest city by area and 7th largest by population in Andhra Pradesh. Kakinada over’s an area of 31.69 sq.km. It is located at 16.930N 82.220E.The 82-degrees east longitude passes through the city. Population Density within the city is 10,287(as per 2011 census). Kakinada has a tropical savanna climate with hot, humid weather most of the year. The average annual rainfall in the area is 1186 mm. Kakinada is the base for Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s Eastern Offshore Asset. According to 2011 census, literacy rate of the city is 81%.Kakinada city has a diversified economic base. The pillars of the city’s economy are ports, marine, education, tourism, administration and trade, and commerce and industrial sectors.

To be a smart city it has to attract and inspire other cities with its technology.
1.Replace the street light system with solar based leds which was appreciated by BRICS in vizag.
2.Providing laser based traffic screens in night which was succes in western countries
3.Provide led based route maps in junctions to understand clearly with images if possible.
4.Attract tourists with showboards about koringa mangroov forests and other spots near to cinema road.
