Varanasi has often been termed as the cradle of India’s culture. It is a city of scholars, writers, poets and thinkers. The Ganga flows through Varanasi but sadly even here the Ganga’s condition has become pitiable. This task seeks your ideas on a comprehensive plan to clean the Ganga in Varanasi and at the same time a re-development plan for the Ghats of the city.
Re-Development of Varnasi & Cleaning of Ganga is as complex as the problem.
It should be viewed with the fact that, we have attempted cleaning in the past with limited results and we are looking at solution again.
To solve the problem with limited maintenance cost the following proposal is attached.
The Ganga and the ghats in Kashi are its soul. Their condition is deteriorating from bad to worse each day. One feels ashamed at this. Thankfully Modi has taken it up as a Mission. I give my proposal in a two page note attached.
Varanasi's two tributaries - Varna & Assi are to be rejuvenated ecologically to reduce the pollution load on Ganga and thereby improving the status of ghats.
Ghats in Varanasi is to be redesigned to imbibe the high morals & sense of responsibility for maintaining the purity of river water.
There should not be obscene or advertising or political posters, displays on the ghats or on the way to ghats.
There is need to redesign & revamp the buildings & roads o ghats without loosing heritage essence of the city.
Consensus of all the stakeholders is the first step to Varanasi Re-development Ardour Task (VRAT).
Idea for re-developing Varanasi Ghats and Ganga river in this region.
debris on ghat most probably are flower and plastic , plastic bags have no such strong solution but flowers and other thing which use for worship can convert into manure or fertilizer by vermicompost method and make specific arrangement for pandit and worship process
Such Ghat can be used as jetty for the Boatman and Religious activity on the bank.
Please see the " Do's and Donot's " for a really beautiful and oristine Ganga in the accompanying pdf formate.
This is common sense. We need to educate the trade, user, municipalty for new practices. Only chants are old. Modern crematorium can clean up.Green bliss fir departed, happy relatives
As per my view the following should be the point of consideration for development and maintenance of ghat of Ganga
