The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with MyGov is organizing a Reel-Making Campaign on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). Inviting citizens to create a suitable video (in reel format) that should value and serve as a celebratory message to communicate the importance of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) represents a transformative phase in India's sanitation narrative, driven by a history enriched with ancient innovations and bolstered by contemporary governmental efforts. Initiated in 2014 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the mission targeted making India Open Defecation Free (ODF). This massive exercise successfully mobilized nationwide participation, marking it as the largest behavioural change movement globally.
To offer tribute to the Mahatma on his Jayanti, 2nd October is observed as Swachh Bharat Diwas. As a prelude to that, to strengthen voluntarism and collective action for Swachh Bharat, a fortnight of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ (SHS) is observed since 2017. The annual ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ (SHS) campaign is held from 15th September to 2nd October (Swachh Bharat Diwas) every year to mobilize widespread citizen action & ownership for Swachhata.
The reel should highlight SBM and SHS components, how it has made life easier for rural masses, its impact on their economy, it's impact on health of rural citizens and environment (soil, water, air, discharge of harmful gasses etc.). You can use your imagination and creativity without the use of any offensive/derogatory or political content etc. (political/religious/inappropriate slur).
Broad Themes for the competition:
1. How SBM has changed your lives.
2. What transformations you have observed in your Neighbourhood & Society after SBM
3. Why should we call SBM a revolutionary program
4. Share your personal experience of Swachh Bharat Mission and what has been your favourite initiative within the program
5. How do you think Waste Management Champions (sweepers/ sanitary workers/ waste pickers/ de-sludging operators etc.) brought Small Actions into Big Impact
6. What Eco-Friendly Habits you have adopted and How it has inculcated in your daily routine
7. Why should we call our Swachh Bharat Mission Sanitation Workers “Cleanliness Heroes”
Submission Format:
1. Upload A portrait-mode MP4 video of a maximum 90 seconds
2. Using #SHS2024
3. Tagging @swachhbharatgrameen on Instagram
