The National Book Promotion Policy (NBPP) has been drafted under the aegis of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education. It envisions a knowledge society imbued with an awareness from reading books. The overarching theme of NBPP is 'Books for All: Improving the availability, accessibility, quality and readership'. The policy seeks to:
1) Ensure an adequate supply of books that cater to the needs and interests of all segments of society and all age groups, including persons with print disabilities and other differently-abled persons.
2) Ensure that books are accessible and affordable to readers all over the country, including the disadvantaged and those living in rural and remote areas.
3) Enhance readership among people of all age groups, especially among individuals and groups hitherto unreached.
As part of our commitment to transparency and inclusivity, the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, in collaboration with MyGov is inviting the public to contribute their valuable feedback and inputs on the National Book Promotion Policy. Therefore, citizens are invited to:
1) Provide insights on specific sections of the policy.
2) Share concerns related to the policy's potential impact.
3) Suggest improvements or alternative approaches.
