Established in 1875, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is completing 150 years of service to the nation on 15th January 2025. IMD is among the earliest government departments created specifically for systematic observation, regular reporting and scientific forecasting of weather phenomenon in the Indian subcontinent. In a way, the evolution of meteorology as a stream of modern physical science owes a lot to the contributions made by scientists and technologists who were associated with IMD during its glorious one hundred and fifty years of journey.

To commemorate our remarkable 150-year journey of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, we proudly announce IMD’s Souvenir Designing Contest in collaboration with MyGov. The event invites participants to blend creativity and purpose by crafting unique souvenir designs celebrating the India Meteorological Department's legacy and contributions. This contest encourages participants to design items that reflect IMD's role in weather forecasting, climate monitoring, and disaster management, capturing its mission to serve the nation. Whether through innovative visuals, symbols, or themes, participants can create souvenirs that leave a lasting impression and foster public appreciation for IMD’s impact.
