The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports is implementing the Scheme of Pension for Meritorious Sportspersons since 1994. Under this Scheme, life-time monthly pension is given to those sportspersons who have won Gold, Silver or Bronze medals in Olympic Games, World cup/ World championships (in Olympics/Asian Games disciplines) or gold, silver or bronze medal in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Paralympic Games, provided that at the time of applying for pension they had retired from an active sports career or had attained the age of 30 years, whichever is later. The Ministry is in the process of reviewing the Scheme.

Scheme of Pension for Meritorious Sportspersons

The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports is also implementing Scheme of National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons since 1982 with a view to assisting outstanding sportspersons of yesteryears, living now in indigent circumstances who had brought glory to the country in sports. Lump sum ex-gratia assistance is given from National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons to the sportspersons or their families for medical treatment etc. The Ministry is in the process of reviewing the Scheme.

Suggestions are invited for the Scheme of Pension for Meritorious Sportspersons and Scheme of National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 11th May, 2015.

On 26-4-15 in his speech Maan Ki baat Respected PM Mr Narendra Damodardas Modi emphasized on MAYLA MATHE PE DHONA (carrying dirt on head). The phrase was headline in each and every NEWS of the day. Is He really concern about this and made provisions of reservation in LOK SABHA, RAJYA SABHA, STATE VIDHAN SABHA, MILITARY etc etc etc ...... Such reservations are in place in other aspects of life.
Respected PM Mr NARENDRA DAMODARDAS MODI SIR do you have explanation or just a speech.

Please encourage poor people whose decided play sports as a profession in non popular games.Because popular game sports persons earning lot of money in month.Recently government give lot of money to popular sports persons only because government need publicity.Encourage the sports persons not for publicity,Encourage unknow talented sports persons only.

NAMASTE...meritorious sportsperson and scheme of national welfare fund for sportspersons is save their life obviously,because gentlemen game like cricket ,cricket players got huge money but rest of the games in india and players are getting negligible money,some times even middle of their sport life they left the games because of finances....for all games of players this will help.

Not only the meritorius sportsperson but people who chose sports as their only option should be provided with a minimal regular income. This will enhance the thinking of chosing sports as a career option. Most of the players leave sports only because it does not provide money. Govt. should provide enough money to them so that they can feed their family only with sports. This will help more talented players to play sports for the longer period of time in their life.

A special scheme in the name of "Guru Dhronacharya" giving Financial assistance and required Land on 0% interest rate ( NOT FREE) should be given for sports Icons who made the Mother Land Proud , so that they can start Sports Academy to groom next generation. They have to return the loan in a Long term instalments. A separate fund should be generated for this purpose.

The sports person who get their higher achievement in sports can be requested by the government to be as a coach to the government school children who are studying in government schools.By this we can make every child to go to school and make them study and we can reduce the illiterate child among inda (or) we can make them good athelets by giving them coaching by these famous sports persons

The sports person who gets the highest achievement in their sports, the Govt should encourage them to be the Coach/trainer to the younger generation in that sports through sports bodied or support financially for opening sports schools/academies to train the children.

The scheme should attempt to encourage the sports persons who brings pride to the country or the state but lost/forgotten in a short time. Such sports person may not continuously won the medals like gold medal in Olympic.
