In the recently concluded Rio Olympics 2016, India sent its largest ever Olympic contingent comprising of 118 athletes. Despite the large number of athletes, the Indian contingent managed to bag only 2 medals in the Games viz., one Silver medal in Badminton and one Bronze medal in Wrestling. Considering the size of our country it can be said that the present performance was not up to the country’s potential. Views/suggestions are invited on what specific steps need to be taken to realise full sporting potential of India in forthcoming Olympics in 2020, 2024 and 2028.

1. Grow a sports culture in the country,in every sphere ,school & college level, corporate level, society level.
2.Utilize the infrastructure to the fullest level built for games & sports, discourage their usage for marriage halls, conferences or political lectures. We want to see our sports field filled with sportsmen & women not Cows or goats gazing on it
3.Sports organisation should have emminent sportspersons & efficient administrators
4.Preach our children that practice makes a man perfect

I think new people should get chance to participate in Olympics, from every school and college best student should be selected by doing all India competition. Who cross present Olympics record point.that student selected for future Olympics.
We have best sport person in defence.such person should select and send to Olympics.
State wise one sport competition should conduct and find best person from them.

This would result into new job opportunities.
9. Standardized Rewards & recognition for players who have performed well in sport events, as in some states they are rewaded well while in other they are not. This result into loss of motivation. Also, players are concerned abt their livelihood/earning and after a certain time or once performed they move to conversion of performance and then shift their focus on jobs. Also the rewards/ remuneration for different sports are different.

6. Training of trainers for physical and sports eduction and further training of school staff for improvement in knowledge and techniques by knowledge sharing.
7. Setting up of instituteswith sufficient seats at all states with minor institutes at district level for sports education and well equipped and trained staff.
8. Rotation of selection committee members/ coaches/ etc from resources as mentioned in sno. 7 above. This would eliminate political influence and equal opportunity for all.

5. Use of authorized publications only in government and pvt schools for teachers and students resulting in lack of burden on students. Further these books shall be provided by school at the time of session start and shall be recovered for next session students resulting in less financial burden and baste ka bojh.

Hence, standardization of syllabus is required urgently focusing on education without burden.
4. Due to lack of facilities in government schools for students and teachers people are prone to send their children to pvt schools and lack of quality teachers are observed. Also, school teachers are involved in multiple government schemes which hampers their efficiency to train/educate students. Government shall engage third agencies for monitoring and execution of schemes leaving teachers to educate

Following steps may be taken by govt for improvement in sports
1. I don't know abt central selection but in states selection of coaches, trainers, selection committee members have political influence. This shall be addressed immediately.
2. Private schools have high fee structure and hence they have tie-ups with publications resulting into focus on knowledge education rather than physical education. Students even if interested are unable to reflect their interestdue to overburden of studies.
