Nearly 94% of students enrolled are in the state educational institutions. Improving the quality of State Universities is extremely significant. What kind of reforms agenda need to be worked so as to address the quality deficit in State institutions.

5.Whether poor quality faculty is affecting institutional and student performance? What solutions can be offered?

Yes,faculty is the main factor in molding the students. What we see today is that recruitment is made on local level, at the cost of quality Nepotism, donations, political interference etc. are hampering the quality of the staff. Such faculty is incapable to update the knowledge and standard of education. All over the state P.G. departments are taught by

4. Should Governing body be empowered with decisions making powers requirements?

Yes, definitely. If proper infrastructure, especially laboratories, library, play ground and canteen etc. is made available to all, the standard of education will definitely improve.

No, not at all. At present except a few reputable governing Bodies all other treat institutions as money making machines. Most of the Principals and Directors are appointed as per the convenience of the Body and education process suffers a lot.

2. Is it desirable that fees be increased with waiver for needy students?

Fees can be revised as per the quality of courses being imparted. However needy and poor students must be given concessions too.

1. In what way will giving autonomy to colleges improve their performance?

The issue of giving autonomy to colleges is being discussed since long. If deserving colleges will be given autonomy they will have their own syllabi, faculty. Exam. System and convocation etc on their own. That way the university work will be shared. However blanket autonomy to all colleges is not desirable and advisable.
