NDMC, the heart of Delhi is a unique case of urban mobility. With around 2.5 lakh populations the city witnesses influx of over 20 Lakh people everyday mostly for official and commercial purpose. In addition to the commuters there is sizeable number, which crosses the area adding to the traffic woes. The area is very well connected with public transport. Several lines of Delhi Metro and DTC bus routes connect it with rest of the city. However, the very size of commuters and visitors to the area is far too much and smart parking management is the urgent need to decongest the city.

NDMC has two Multilevel Parking lots having about 2200 car parking space and one underground parking of 975 car parking capacity. Experiences of parking management in NDMC areas have shown people’s bias towards roadside or on street parking over and above multi-level off street parking. One reason may be little difference in pricing. The worldwide norm has been a significant higher price of on street parking to discourage it substantially. We may also think on lines of increasing the price of on street/road side parking in multiples of ten. (if multilevel parking rate is Rs. 10 per hour, the road side may be raised to Rs. 100 or more). In addition to this we may identify some areas, which are most central to business and commercial activities where traffic movement should be, either banned or restricted and on street parking should be banned completely.

NDMC invites citizen’s ideas to make the parking and traffic management smart.

a) What is wrong with our Parking System in NDMC area?
b) What are the issues in last mile connectivity of Delhi metro in NDMC area? What can be done to improve it?
c) Which areas in NDMC should be no vehicle zone or restricted vehicle zone?
d) Why people don’t prefer off road parking?
e) Locations for park and ride
f) How to price, zone and enforce smart parking?

Electronic and manless parking system can be introduced as present in London. It can be useful for paid parking purposes and will use meters to measure time duration for which vehicle is parked and collect parking fees accordingly from vehicle users. It will be capital intensive and therefore use less manpower and will be more comfortable for car users. Presence of few traffic cops are required to man those meters. 90% of Delhi's traffic cops are in NDMC area which makes the idea more feasible.

A city is not smart until it manages its waste well. Waste management process should be decentralised and locality based, quick and real time. It is surprising to note that 70% of waste is organic in nature & can be reprocessed before it becomes waste or, thereafter, can be recycled in a sustainable manner. We hav invented a Green Waste Reprocessor machine which re‐process all green reject and converts it into valuable by‐products. More details can be found on www.cleanindiatech.com #NDMC #Delhi

No need for Specific Parking System in NDMC area but MCD area needs. Only necessary to make surface parking rates 5-10 times of Multi-level parking. No one uses Sardar Patel Mark Parking as surface parking is too cheap & convenient. If you cannot increase price of surface parking tickets, nothing will work. Also,Penalty for Illegal Parking is only Rs.100/- so no fear of Law. It just wont work. There is contempt for law,no one is afraid of Police. NDMC should focus on keeping CP SPARKLINGLY CLEAN.

If you could use them for votes, why u couldn't give them a society.A society for those kind people, who come to a city for labor and earnings, they live right to the road side "so called footpath", they sleep near to it, they shit and pee every where they want, so to make a clean India, we have to consider this. This is a big issue in India. My suggestion is A society for the Labours, Rickshawala, colie, for all slum people". I know the ministers will never do this, they like to do big ghapla.
