The vibrant city of Nashik has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 98 cities to participate in stage 2 of the “Smart City Challenge”. The Smart City mission will act as a catalyst as the city adapts to urbanisation and industrialisation while preserving its cultural heritage. The Mission definition of a ‘Smart City’ is open to interpretation depending on the city itself. However, the essence of a smart city is in the use of technology to improve the citizen’s quality of life. Towards this endeavour, the city would prepare a ‘Smart City Proposal’ (SCP) outlining smart urban solutions in the water, sewerage, transport and allied sectors and improved liveability and governance in order to make the city resilient, sustainable and people friendly.

The Vision for the city needs to be arrived at after considering the needs and priorities of its citizens. Nashik Municipal Corporation invites suggestions and comments from its citizens on ways to make the city smart. You could suggest ways to improve the service levels and ability of the city to adapt to the changing needs of its citizens and develop into a world class city. Your suggestions would not only be a valuable indicator of the direction in which the city needs to move forward but also help Nashik to get shortlisted as one among the top 20 cities in India in phase 1.

The last date to submit your comments is 15th November, 2015.

9) We need Clean and Green Smart City, for which we feel that much has to be done to improve the Waste Pick up System in our city as well. Also more and more new plants has to be planted on both sides of roads for greenery. These are some of the ideas and I hope, all concerned authorities will consider the suggestions / points raised above. Thank You.

8) All the Smart Cities must have declared as “Beggar Free Zone” and no one should be allowed to occupy the cities open spaces, below the Flyovers and other road side areas, footpaths for sleeping.

7) All the works and departments must be fully digitalized. Also CCTV cameras must be installed in each and every ward's important places with complete control to City Police, so that crime related issues can be easily check out and they can take appropriate action against culprits with greater speed. It will instill the confidence of safety and security to the entire citizen.

6) Ours is a Pilgrim City & also have enough places to visit for sightseeing. Industrial and international/inland tourism development therefore can be good to improve the economy for all. Concerned authorities must take firm action to improve the Tourism and Industrial Development in city so that unemployment can be minimized at its low level, as we have enough educated and skilled workers / labors in Nashik.

5) I suggest, all the Smart Cities must be connected through Air and good airport has to be constructed for that purpose in our City as well. We don’t have direct service from Nashik to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Nagpur, Bangalore, Cochin, Trivandrum, Delhi etc. Hope, since our city has been selected as Smart City project, everyone expect that at least all the Smart Cities will be connected with Airlines with good Airport.

4) Nashik Municipal Corporation must take over the City Bus Service so that effective transportation can be given to Nasik Citizen. Passengers are not interested to travel in buses those have dirty seats, broken windows and entry doors. The demand of take over of city bus service by NMC is an old one and it has to be done as early as possible. If city bus service is good and people are comfortable to travel in it, we will have less vehicular pollution in city.

3) Total Removal of encroachments in the city has yet to be accomplished.Strict actions to be initiated against those violate the rule. Before the Kumbhmela period, Civic authorities had launched a drive for removal of unauthorized constructions in city limits. But after the main Kumbh Shahi Snan, majority of the already removed illegal constructions once more re-started,mainly in front of the shops throughout the city.Civic Authorities must start again another drive against encroachment in city

2) Cleanliness and proper drainage system in the city is far from satisfactory. Citizen feels that it has to be improved. Construction of footpaths for both sides of roads of interior and outside the main roads must be constructed with proper drainage facilities.

To become a cent percent smart city, we have to do enough work in Nashik City. Some suggestions are here: 1) Better infrastructure facilities to the entire citizen are one of the issues yet to be resolved here in Nashik. We have enough newly constructed houses/flats lying in city. Unsold flats and purchased but not occupied by the purchasers are rising in City and some solutions we have to find out, before we give fresh permissions to construct new buildings/flats to the builders.
